Glock Fans Speak Up!

So im a huge glock fan. Have owned Springfield XD's and they just didn't cut if for me.

So what Glock is your favorite? Right now my favorite is the G30SF...

Great accuracy, great price....

I have a Glock 21 as well and love it. Several of my friends have Glock 17's and they have been good guns as well although I prefer .45 over 9mm.

I carry a Glock 26 and I absolutely love it.

Hey TA-how does that wrap around work for you? Is it comfy? Does it stay in place while you carry and practice with it?

My glock 19 is fine, but unlike the OP I am actually trying to trade it for an XD, or even a Taurus 1911.
No luck so far but that's ok, its like a choice of having your millions of dollars in $50s or $100s. If I have to stick with this one Im gonna pick up some 33rd mags for it, make sure it is my primary home defense gun.
I am a fan for sure though, Glocks are beasts.

In the last 4 years, I've owned and shot dozens of guns.

I'm down to just three now....G33 (daily carry) G30 (house gun) and a Buckmark hunter ('''cause everyone needs a .22....)

Another glock fan here! Glock 27, great little gun and as accurate as the Glock 22 I've found. Can get dropped in the mud, kicked around, and will still keep firing. Lightweight, and reliable...can be counted on.

Currently have a Glock 22. I am probably going to purchase a 27 for concealed carry here in a few months. I love Glocks.

All of mine wear some sort of rubber grip. Easy to install. Just spray inside the grip with hairspray, slip it on, and let it dry. Hairspray acts as a mild adhesive. Grip is solid and stays in place until you want to remove.

Glock 36. I don't wear it to bed or in the shower, but darn near every place else. :bath:

I kinda feel naked without it...

Buy a SIG!!!!!!

A simple search on Google reveals hundreds if not thousands of parts failures among the Glocks. Aside from the fear of Ka-Boom (again another google), upgraded (why not recalled?) parts from yer local armorer for what is it? The forth or fifth generation extractor?

It's a good thing each American city has multiple Glock Armorers

When it comes to rifles I feel the same way about 8mm, one of the most underestimated rounds over here in America. Same velocity and ballistics as 3006 but with a heavier projectile.

G17 (full sized 9mm) - this is my "end of the world" pistol....have a few of them as well as G19 (compact 9mm).

I like the G17 as I also have the Kel Tec Sub 2000 9mm folding carbine that uses G17 magazines.

G19 here.

Can't complain.

In my opinion, Glocks are the "ak-47's" of handguns as far as reliability goes.

Re: Glock Fans Speak Up!

The glock haters always show up.... I use to own the kel tect carbine 9mm as well... It was very very accurate out to 50 yards... never got to test farther then that.... after the first few clips though i had some plastic literally chip off from where the shells are ejected I sold it a couple weeks later... wish i hadnt.

Actually, I take that back. I'm new to shooting, but already I see a major, life-changing, (and expensive) fork in the road ahead.

One branch is labelled "Ruger GP100, and Ruger LCR." The other is labelled "Glock 22, and Glock 27."

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could . . .

So yes, Glock fans, do speak up. I am very interested in hearing what you have to say.

Re: Glock Fans Speak Up!

Most US Spec For groups can choose either the Glock OR the Beretta. Most US SF choose Glock, though some still like the Beretta.

For the rest of the world (excluding some Russian groups), all the other SF operators seem to carry Glock. The things just don't FAIL. Every time you pull the trigger, they work properly.

Regardless of what some Glock detractors say.

I'm currently looking at G22 rtf. I must say, I did like the 'fit and feel' of the G22 rtf.

Old school Glock 21 for me... If I had to buy another pistol today, I'd look to Glock again...

Feels good in my hand, I shoot it well, never has issues, I'd trust it with my life...

Re: Glock Fans Speak Up!

My favorite? The one I own naturally! G23

When I took my CCW class, the only Glock there was mine, beside the two LEOs that gave the class, they both carried Glocks. Most had revolvers or some other brand of auto loader pistol. The only one that had any failures to go bang was one of the guys that had a .357 Rossi revolver. His gun was actually defective. I am not a big fan of revolvers for CCW. I do have a S&W .38 snubbie that I would rather not have to depend on in a life or death fight. Five shots plus a tough reload under stress compared to 13 with my Glock or even 6, 7 if I top up, from my LCP .380 Ruger with a much easier reload.

Show me One other semi auto that stood up to 1/10 the abuse dished out

Man threw his Glock out of a low flying plane and it still worked

The first gun I ever shot was a Glock 17 9mm. I personally like the Glock 19 the best though I don't even own any Glocks (and I want to fix this problem in the near future).

Love my G26! Would consider a G19
For full size, I shoot most confidently with my Beretta 92F (Italian made)
I'm going shooting early tomorrow morning.

Re: Glock Fans Speak Up!

I've got two. I was one of the first civilians I knew to buy a Glock 17 back in 89-90. A lot of rounds have gone through that 9mm. The one I shoot the most now though is a Glock 35 which comes in .40 S&W. I keep that barrel in the bag "just in case" but normally I shoot it with a Jarvis .357 SIG barrel. Heck of a combination. Long slide Glock and .357 SIG.

I will have three soon now that Glock has finally gotten around to making an SF version of the G20. Always wanted one of those full size 10mm's but the grip was just too big to be comfortable in my hand. Who knows, once I get the G20 SF I may decide to get the G29 SF as well?!

I've got a 2nd gen G21. It was my first handgun, and still one of my favorites. G30 and G36 are also great. I would consider them all house guns when I'm home.

Might pick up a G26 soon, but I have no 9mm stockpiled, so I might buy another 36.

I have the G21. It's a great pistol, but I prefer the 1911. Just fits my hand better, and I like the full metal and it's classic look.

I put over 1K rounds through the G22 in a 40 hour class that really tested the gun, and not one malfunction. It shot better than I was expecting. There was also 12 others in the class with G22's and I can't remember any other malfunctions as well.

Re: Glock Fans Speak Up!

I certainly wouldn't say the Glock is superior to the XD.
I do like the lower bore axis of the Glock
No need for grip safety
Not sure about the top ejector on the XD?

Juandisimo 07-13-2009 09:18 PM

Re: Glock Fans Speak Up!

The deal breaker on the XD for me was no spare parts. If something breaks it has to go back to the factory. I have spare just about everything for my Glocks.

I love my stock GLOCK 19. It just feels right and always shoots. The action is nice and smooth too after putting around 500rds through it.

If you want to start a XD fan thread to discuss XD's and why you like them better go for it.

Anyways.... the Glock finish is superior. I cleaned rust off my XD all the time. My Glock never jammed. Spare parts are a must. I find the accuracy of the Glock superior to the XD....

We don't have to be talking about "features" here. In my experience, people tend to gravitate toward one or the other based on feel in the hand or firing behavior. I've handed non-gun people a Glock and they just hated the feel. I've handed the same guns to other non-gun people and they loved it. Everybody's hands are different. Their expectations are different. That's what I _always_ advise people to shoot several different guns before they pick one for daily carry. What I like may just feel totally wrong in your hands. I think we should celebrate the fact that we have so many choices to pick from.
